Agreed - we did pretty good with Craigslist - but with anything do a LOT of research before pulling the trigger......

I bought my overlander on Craigslist but I was looking for a long long time ,what ever you do don't buy the first one that comes along my advice is study study and look it over really good -- be sure because this is a very very spendy hobby as you will learn so don't be afraid to ask lots of questions

Hi pattilouise. Welcome to Air Forums. Airstreams are really expensive as you have found out. But they are well designed and last a long time. The market is somewhat hot right now, Airstream is selling everything they build. That makes used ones more expensive too.

A good Airstream dealer may be able to offer some warranty over a private "as is" sale. You might want an independent inspection done before you buy as you are new to all the potential problems. Travel trailers, Airstreams included, are more problematic than say automobiles. The things are assembled by ordinary folks who sometimes forget a step.

Maybe you are an experienced traveler and camper, so you know what you're getting into. Traveling with a trailer is fun, but certainly different than motel accommodations.

Some KOAs rent Airstreams as cabins for a night or two. Might be a way to try one and see if the small interior is right for you.

Visit a rally, look several over, and talk to the owners. You will get some good ideas to begin your studies.
