The ferry travels from Brentwood Bay in the East to Mill Bay in the West. 40' and 8000kg GVW max. = 17500 lbs.
Restaurant in on Brentwood Bay side.
BC Ferries Schedules: Brentwood Bay - Mill Bay

By the way I thought it was Mill Bay but then I may be confused with another trip.

I think I have these labeled correctly.
The green car is a 1913 Model T Ford Speedster belonging to our friends Pat and Marg who live in Victoria and that is our 1938 Ford Cab Over Engine truck with our 1910 Model T Ford Speedster on the deck.
This tour was also the first time I saw a smart. It took a year and a half before I was able to buy one legally in the U.S. I have the second smart registered in Washington State.
This is a reflection of our Speedster in front of the smart dealer in Victoria.

What's "Vanilla Custard Powder"? Vanilla Jello Pudding mix or something else? I'm not a chocolate fan (I know!) but know plenty that are...perfect dessert for me to bring to potluck, cause I wouldn't eat any!

Nice wheels Dan but I think the Nanaimo Bars would melt in that convertible. What year was that??

We traveled with a set of these cookware-for-toaster-ovens when we had our first RV---a 77 Barth. No oven, propane burners I was afraid to use. No room for a toaster oven in the Interstate, but I still have the cookware.
2 weeks on the road with grandkids and a dog---no problem. I could cook and bake anything with a toaster oven and an electric skillet!

Doglady, the one cup method makes the second layer a little thin. Some think the second layer is the best part of the bar.
I've always wanted to try some vanilla pudding with extra butter for the middle layer to cut down sweetness w/o sacrificing volume.

InsideOut, custard powder is a big thing in the UK and Australia. In Canada, you'll find it where the pudding/jello mixes are. The most popular brand is Brid's. I'm sure most American supermarkets will have it (perhaps under another brand).

Goldstream Provincial Park
This is a great provincial campground between Victoria and the Malahat. No restrictions on length (like most of our parks) and hot showers!
Check out this link. Beautiful! I remember camping there as a kid with a tent.

I have seen it in the packets/boxes fairly often, and sometimes the tin-shaped thingy, but never in rural areas, only fairly large cities. Bird's has a different consistency from actual custard, too, so depending on what it is you're making, substituting real custard doesn't always work. (Don't ask how I know.)

Sorry, I'm not going to be much help as we usually boondock on the Island. Having worked in the bus and trucking industry for 49 years, I know a few choice spots that I keep to myself.
One of the high end spots for fishing and whale watching is:
Telegraph Cove Resort / North Vancouver Island Whale Watching / Salmon Fishing and Camping
Another good site for out of the way places in the Province is:
BC Hydro - Recreation Areas
There are many more in each community so just do a search on Google.
We will be traveling the Island almost exclusively this year so say hello if you see us.
