Naming an Airstream
I just recently purchased an Airstream and was wondering if it is customary to name the camper? If so, what are some of the names of your Airstreams.

We named ours Shining Hope. We registered it as well on the Airstream site, but are still awaiting our information being posted.

It's your trailer, so you totally get to decide. Some do, some don't.
We named ours Rocinante, after John Steinbeck's camper in "Travels with Charley."
BTW, that's a wonderful book to put one in the mood for a camping adventure.

Naming an Airstream
Ours is Tin Goat because we had one and then bought the trailer and it stuck 😀
In this pic - some fellow campers were apparently partying with our Tin Goat while we were away from the campsite. Naughty goat!
Probably the ultimate thread on naming your trailer is here: http://www.airforums.com/forums/f483...me-110253.html
Though there are others too.
Or you could generate a name based on this thread: http://www.airforums.com/forums/f483...am-123470.html

It has to have a name, but don't be in a hurry. The name will come to you in due time. In our case, we were watching a tv program where one of the characters name was Flora belle. We both looked at each other and the trailers name ever since has been "Flo". Sure beats "The Trailer".

We have a 2012 16' Sport. We named it the Shangri La. Our son was working for the Shangri La chain of hotels as a chef, and at the time we bought it, he was living across the country in Toronto. (Go Raptors Go!) We live in British Columbia. The idea was to take a trip across the country to visit him and given the new job in Toronto with the Shangri La was the whole reason for the trip, and was a good excuse to buy the trailer, it seemed like a good name. We also like that it means something like "the manifestation of paradise on earth". He moved back to the hotel in Vancouver before the trip happened. The trip is still a "oneday" item for us.

We've had seven campers, none with names. I guess nice boats and special homes are often named. It has Flying Cloud badges on it, seems to fit, maybe we'll settle for that.

I don't name the knife and fork I eat with, why would I name my travel trailer.
If you name it, will it come running when you call it?

We wanted to honour Wally Byam and keep our Canadian humour so we called our 1985 325 MH "Wall EH". License plate says the same.

Sorry, I just don't get the naming thing with RV's, cars, motorcycles, etc.
It makes sense for a boat, both for documented vessels and for radio communication.
To each their own.

Welcome to the forum! I'm a relative "newbie" too. I see we are practically neighbors. Is your unit on the Airstream Registry on their website? I thought I saw it there. Can I ask, how long from the time you registered, did it take them to put it online? I've been waiting over two weeks now.

A lot of guys name their tractors but I ever saw a need to.
Until I got a 3 cylinder 4000 gasser. It is thirsty.
So I named it Musashi, after the WWII Japanese battleship.
At battle speed Musashi burned 70 tons of fuel per hour - yes Seventy Tons.
By the way, Rocinante was the name of Don Quixote's horse.
Rocinante was known to get into a trot on occasion but was NEVER known to break into a full gallop.

Air-Stream=Cloud-Splitter....just seemed rite at the time.
Also we Love Camping in the Adirondack Mountains in Upstate NY
The American Indian name for Mount Marcy, a peak in the Adirondack Mountains, is Tahawus, meaning, Cloudsplitter.

Can't see a reason to name an inanimate object. I do call it names when I get mad, but none of them stick.
