Yes, with two Airstreams we found it necessary to name them to avoid confusing each other. So, we call the Safari "the Safari" and we call the Basecamp "the Basecamp" :-)

Anybody ever see the movie "Down Periscope"? It's a comedy about an old diesel submarine called The Stingray which is re-commissioned for a war game with hilarious consequences. The beginning of the movie involves the crew cleaning up the old girl... Some guys getting electrocuted, rivets popping out during the first dive, leaks and the like. Sounds just like my life since I picked up my '78 Sovereign from sitting in a field in Saskatchewan for nearly 20 years... So I've decided to name it The Stingray.

Reminds me of some of the bars I used hang out in when I was younger.
At any moment you expected someone to start hollering Dive! Dive!

Agreed!

Right now it is Myztic, as in "Sail into the Mystic" song. But, we are no longer together, so no "our song".

As a retired brewer, I'm thinking Chip tank, 3K barrel beer vessel to ferment beer with a large access door, much like my EB. As seen on tv, Budweiser commercial.

Name

Ours is a 1967 Caravel named Penny Lane. Hubby is a a huge Beatles fan and '67 was the year of the album Magical Mystery Tour.

I can't get there either. I talk to it, silence. I look into its eyes, blank stare. I touch it, no response. I think of a name and call it, just sits there. I try to see if it's warm and breathing, dead as a door nail. The neighbors think I'm nuts.

It'll just be our Airstream, I'm satisfied with that and it could care less.

The rig, the Airstream, the motorhome....we've never felt the need to name it or any other vehicle. I guess "that beautiful piece of American art that gives us the opportunity to have so much fun and pleasure" is too long.

Rocinante does not come when called.

However, neither do boats though most folks seem to name them.

We didn't see naming our "land yacht" as being all that different from naming a boat or any other inanimate object. Name it or don't. Trailer don't care. It seems very zen about the whole thing.
