MN to LA

Hello, Im planning to haul my 31' airstream from Minnesota to LA later this fall. I will be there for about 17 days to do my PADI IDC and to visit friends. What is the most affordable and safe way to legally camp?

Define affordable and define safe. Where in LA, it is a large area?

I would like to be as close to Marina Del Rey as I can. Safe for me would be a place where I could detach it and come back at night and it would still be there and in one piece. Affordable would be from free to 30 a night.

You may be able to park it on the street in Venice. However, that's sketchy given the number of homeless and gangs in the area. Try Leo Carillo state park in Malibu area. Otherwise you won't get close to Marina Del Rey for RV camping unless there's some one who will let you use their driveway. I live in LA and am quite familiar with the MDR area.

Monterey is a little far from Del Rey but well worth the drive (by 101 if towing!!!). If you go there stop off at , best fish house around that area.
Not sure about "affordable camping" in the Los Angeles, CA area. LA area isn't really very "Camper Friendly" and the rents are high ..... good luck, best bet would be to be able to stay on their yard or driveway!
A couple of hours north is Morro Bay but there are also sites in Ventura and Santa Barbara that are great. just depend on how much $$$ and when you are there.
