Maiden voyage from santa fe to northern nj

we will be em-barking (with our 2 dogs) on our maiden voyage with our 2012 FC 25'er. we need to end up in bergen county NJ on November 25th, but we need to also be around Annapolis MD on the 20th, and Chapel Hill NC, a few days before that.

not sure how far we can go in a day of traveling, where the best places to stay for a day or so are enroute, and would like any suggestions or advice.

we can leave anytime in early mmid-november, would like a scenic route but don't want to be out in the boonies given our newbie status in case something goes wrong, could stay in state or NP or pay type sites, no real preference at this point.

if this is the wrong forum to be asking this let me know which i should use.

thanks in advance to all you great folks out there!!!

Do you have a place to stay in NJ? Just a heads up, but it could be below freezing late November. Be sure to account for that.

Sounds like a great trip, but there are a couple of things that you need to be aware of. Once you get north of Virginia on the East Coast, most campgrounds close for the season by the middle of October. Several years ago we took a trip to New England in November, and had to spend several nights in Wal-Mart parking lots before getting to new Hampshire where we found a year-round campground.

I would suggest that you travel east along the southern tier (I-20 or south). We usually like to cover no more than 300 miles in a day. We can do 400 when the situation dictates. Also, keep in mind that you will be traveling in standard time by then, and your hours of daylight travel will be more limited. It's not very enjoyable to get into a tight campsite and set up in the dark.

Have a great trip. It sounds like quite an adventure.

I agree with 350 to 400 miles per day. try I-40 to Knoxville TN then I-85 north tru VA.

Some suggested campgrounds to Knoxville
Amarillo Ranch, Amarillo, TX
Checotah KOA, Checotah, OK
Tom Sawyer RV Park, West Memphis AR (sites on the Mississippi River)
Two Rivers Campground, Nashville, TN (1 mile from Opryland)

As far as I know, there are no CGs in or around Bergen County N.J. The closest would be Liberty State Park in Jersey City open all year but real pricey at around $70. Sal
