Looking for first RV

Hi
We are looking for our first RV we like the Flying Cloud 27FBQ
We also looked at class A and Class B motor homes and keep coming back to the AS. Before we finalize on an Airstream are there other high quality trailers we should look at. We have looked at a couple, but were not impressed.

Thank You
Joe

Hi Joe, I don't know about other high quality RVs, but I can tell you our first two trailers were not Airstreams, and this, our 3rd, is, and I love it much more than the others. We have the 27fb twin. It is open and airy without the bother of slides. It has more storage than I'd thought possible. It just looks *cool.* And it will keep looking cool for years and years. There are a few things I want to modify, but I modify everything.
Just a plug for Airstream

You might want to check Arctic Fox and Outdoors RV. Oliver if you like living aboard a boat (we did for a while). Bigfoot is another with a good name.

Unfortunately most other brands are made in Elkhart, Indiana. Lots of people have good luck with those, but manufacturing quality can be spotty and they do not retain their resale value like an Airstream.

Well... really, nothing retains resale like an Airstream...

Welcome RV Shoppers

We took 2 years to shop and looked at almost every brand out there. We looked at Class A,B,C, 5th Wheels and trailers. We went to a bunch of RV shows all over the eastern U.S. When we narrowed it down to an Airstream we visited no less than 5 dealers and sat in and spent lots of hours bonding with different models.

We purchased a new 2017 International Serenity 23D in May, 2017. Great trailer and had a good experience with it. 17k miles in 2 years. We sold it in May, 2019 for $3k less than we paid for it. Fantastic!

We replaced it with a 2019 FC 25 RBT. Love it so far and have had 0 problems after 2 great outings. So far, so good.

Do your homework. If you have already narrowed it down to an Airstream, look at lots of them in the layout you think you like and also look at the other floorplans available in the 26'/27'/28' models. Happy hunting.

Hi

We spent maybe 40 years looking and looking and looking. Each time we got pretty close to this or that. We always backed up and went on camping in tents.

If an Airstream does not do major damage to the budget, it's a reasonable way to go. They are not perfect, but we are quite happy with ours. Our budget did not include half million or million dollar RV's.

I would *strongly* suggest you head over to a dealer and spend at least a day sitting in various models. There are a lot of floor plans in the 26,27,28 range and each has it's tradeoffs. For some people this one is perfect, for somebody else that one is perfect. Spend a good deal of time in each of them. Work out what goes where. Sit here, sit there, make sure things work for you.

Once you are pretty sure what you want, the next question is new or used. New comes with a 3 year warranty and has all the latest stuff. You also can order one up to have just the "right" options for you (not that there are a lot of options .....). Used will save you some money. Finding exactly *that* trailer may take a while.

Lots of fun !!
