Leveling with iPhone

FYI, their is a free app for iPhones that is a level. Just put your phone on top of your propane box for leveling front to back, turn the phone for leveling side to side. It works!

I hate to say it, but that's all I use. Except I put mine on the floor of the TT. Awfully convenient those lil iPhones are these days.
Sea ya down the road,

You don't need an additional app. The built-in app is a part of the compass app. Simply open the compass, and swipe from right to left, and the level will open.

I use the round bubble level on my iPhone.
I open the cover on the stove and set the phone on a burner. I don't like my pan to not be level. Don't want cooking oil or anything else going to one side of the pan.

If the stove is level, everything else is level enough.

You do realize that it needs to be calibrated using a real level.

At an owners' seminar, our dealer strongly recommended placing a level in the freezer to level the trailer. The claim is that leveling the fridge is critical to smooth efficient operation of that expensive appliance and it's not often the fridge is truly level wrt to the floor or anything else in the trailer.

Just don't leave your level (or your phone) in the freezer after you're done!

Hey everyone, I posted this as a point of information not a cure all must do. Level as you wish, it's just another tool.

Are you talking about the compass app on the iPhone? How do you calibrate it? I don't see a way to calibrate it either on the compass screen or the level screen.

Sorry I use a free app called iHandy Level. I like it because I can set the phone on it's side rather than having to lay it flat.

As far as the fridge goes, dead level is not really critical. Close counts. I agree with Jim Foster that having the stove top dead level makes me much happier and the fridge happy enough.

Hey there McDave. To calibrate the native app on the iphone, just place the phone on it's back on a known level surface, (very important that it's a level surface in both directions), and tap the screen. It will turn green and the bubble will display '0º'. That's the easy part. The hard part is not touching the screen again, which will cause it to recalibrate to whatever angle it happens to be at.

Good luck,

Don

Our '83 Excella has a Tamarak Trailer Level mounted below the front window. I leveled the trailer, making sure the stove was level, then adjusted the Tamarak to show level. I no longer need to use me phone each time I set up. I can see the side to side level ball in my rear view mirror. Once level side to side using Legos under the tires, front to rear is easy with the tongue jack once disconnected. Takes longer to explain it than to do it.
