Just Bought Our First Airstream! 2009 Bambi 19' Intn'l Ocean Breeze

Newbies very excited here, as we have been looking off and on for a few years. Now we have to get geared up and drive 1200 miles South to pick it up! We'll get operating instructions from the dealer, camp a few days to test everything out, then drive same mileage back North for winter storage outside. Any advice on towing set up, essential gear to stock in trailer, security, outdoor storage (unless we can find indoor storage soon) would be greatly appreciated.

* I saw a thread a couple months ago that had some great gear lists compiled by experienced 'Streamers, but I can't find it now. Need to get outfitted with softgoods as well. We have never owned any type of camper or towed anything, so we are a bit nervous as well. It's going to be a great big new world out there on the road!

Check the On the Road forum, under Airstream Lifestyle I think, should find some threads there that will be helpful.

Basically, anything you need for daily life and a well stocked tool bag.

Congratulations, and have a great time!

Congrats! We bought our 19' Bambi CCD three years ago and did a similar trip but east vrs south. We love the size and the ease of the set up and one thing I can ell you is buy things that stack! And we use baskets for all of our overhead lockers to keep everything in its place and we love our nesting cookware from Magma. Have fun planning your first adventure!

Congratulations! Did the same thing about two years ago, and towed our 23' Safari home 1200 miles from Colorado to California. You didn't mention your tow vehicle, but I expect with a 19' trailer you will get comfortable towing fairly quickly -- just take it slow and easy at first. Be sure to get extensions for your rear-view mirrors so you can keep track of what is going on behind you. You are in for a lot of fun!
