Mice

I really don't like mice. I used some cut sections of flashing for a few large gaps around the wheel wells (where AS used a huge blob of sealant) secured with pop rivets then a bead of sealant. Then went around the underside seams with 2"foil tape up near the front on the back side of the tongue I used a small amount of expanding foam. I have camped in areas with a lot of mice and to this day 11 yrs of camping no mice. Knock on wood Best of luck Rand

Thanks, Rand,
I'd love to see a photo or two of your solution, if possible. I'm having a bit of trouble visualizing the flashing and expanding foam applications.

Mice

Difficult area to get good photo of but here they are. First is the wheel well area I spray painted it black to match and used black sealant. I cleaned out the large blob of sealant that AS used it was starting to loosen, then I cut a section out of roof flashing to match the hole plus enough over lap to have space to pop rivet it to the wheel well. If you look close you can see the seam. The tongue area was not a good photo but I found two small areas were the rounded banana wrap meets the frame I just put a very small amount of expanding foam. Then you can see the foil tape along the seam of banana wrap and belly pan any where I found any small gaps. Hope this helps. Rand

Most glaring spot I found on our brand new trailer was around the dump valve lever rods. On ours they lazily cut out huge openings, then put flimsy rubber gaskets around. My solution was sheet metal flashing. Steel wool and sealant every where else.

I'll be at the factory next week (Thurs and Fri) for some leaking repairs. I'll be using the tape and giving further inspections for possible holes.....going to check on those dump valves for sure. I can't stand mice!

Thank you, everyone, for the info on how you're handling this apparently common problem.

Fort Knox is not mouse proof!! I use various sizes of sealed containers to keep foods out of reach. I use sticky mouse glue pkts, very effective.
