Retrofitting a vintage Bambi or even a new Bambi for a larger black tank is going to be somewhat difficult. Not impossible, but difficult. The reason being that the added weights of a rear bath have to be taken into account with the frame. If not, you could run into problems. I think that's one if the reasons it's only an 18 gallon tank on the newer type units.

If you want a bigger tank, I'd suggest a different model that already has a larger black tank.

That's a bonny recipe. Be sure to use the spirtle, or you'll bruise the oatmeals. An' I prefer to just dip the spoon of hot o'meals in a cup of cold milk.

One of the great advantages to traveling in the months of oct-march are the parks are empty and rates are much better. Have to be careful however for some rough weather. For me, summer is for boating and looking at the airstream---in the drive way.

Hi, Goldilocks. Of course we have more fun, we paid dearly for that privledge. We do get more respect. [at my last outing, strangers called me sir.] Tipped off more? Yes we get lead to the best campsites where some SOB's get turned away. As for the peeing part, well that's a little more information than we need to know.

Here's an observation!
We have two very interesting threads involving ladies:

Lady pees a lot at night....
and Lady in distress leaking air...

There seems to be a whole lot of leaking going on lately and I'm wondering if it has anything to do the fact that this is an AIR, STREAM, forum.

Just an observation.

A spirtle? I didn't know we had other Graham Kerr fans here. Gives me an idea for a new subforum...

Welcome to the Forums Goldi! Gray tanks were put into Airstreams starting with 1974 models. I'm a wanderlust traveler - when our 40 gallon gray tank gets full I'll pull to the dump station and head on down the road. Heckuva criteria, eh? But I concur with opinions above. It takes a lot longer to fill a black tank. I don't think I've ever had more than 12-15 gallons in there. Sometimes it's a good plan to let it slosh and pulverize by pulling to the next campground and dumping there.

State parks? They'll be full of dangerous suburbanites -- my favorite kind. Really, there will be a lot of people around and parks don't allow or attract long term squatters. You'll have to be on the ball with reservations at the maximum advance over the internet -- get online at midnight if you hafta. Take a look at klattu's excellent presentation of suncoast parks: Redneck Riviera

We try to avoid the KOA scene, but I'm sure that there are some that are OK. State Parks (when they haven't been mostly clear-cut), forests, army corp, BLM, NPS are more what we like. A little less cozy to thy neighbor.

Now, about tinkling:

We have stretched out the use of our black tank to a week or little more by going by the rule:

"If it's yellow, let it mellow." The two of us just don't flush until it becomes to gross for us. I'm usually the one that caves, er, flushes.

A quick rinse with the sprayer and that's it. We also take advantage of a tree or a bush (me) or if close by some sort of toilet facility.

You should be fine.

Jonathan

Good catch 2air, does something, besides the black tank, smell?

Can mods verify IP address?

hmm... I know that it is tempting to add a larger black tank, but has anyone considered a larger bladder? Just a thought.
