holy crap Batman.. $149K for a 28-footer??

2014 Airstream Land Yacht 28fb, Lakewood NJ - 111323466 - RVTrader.com

this is one of the nicest travel trailers i have every seen pictures of.. bet the real thing is even more impressive.. but holy carp $149,000.00 i guess if you can afford it, it is a nice way to travel.

the bar is high now for sure.

upon looking at the pictures i have to conclude this unit is more show than go.. nice storage but the area beside bed is like someone forgot about. A nice bed side area to put stuff on at night that was a proper height. The kitchen area is bare looking and only 2 burner stove, single sink and a cover over the whole thing you have to put up to use..

the bathroom is not real practicable looking at all. No area around sink to put stuff when parked..

the front table is cool with the elec pump feature to move table up and down.. saw something this several years ago at Don Matthews place in Raleigh with a show trailer he produced for his airstream repair etc shop.

overall nice but overpriced looking to me..

I noticed the GYM's also. I would think that when you spend all the extra money on really nice upgrades, 16" Michelins would be on the list.

It's beautiful, but I wonder what the build quality is like. A two burner stove and no oven would not work for me. Love the bathroom. What are the chain tensioners on the A-frame, built in weight distribution?

I think those are part of a Reese Dual Cam hitch.

I think the reason for the funny bedside "table" things is the yacht-style design... things you put on that table are kept there by the bumper at the end, so if you leave things on that table when moving they won't end up on the floor.

I like the Ikea-style springy wood mattress supports. The Ikea bed I bought in Italy has those, and it's quite comfy with just a mattress on top of those springy wood slats.

Interesting layout to say the least. BTW, it looks like it does have an oven (an convection/microwave combo). Jay Leno likes it too.

I believe this is the Land Yacht concept designed as a collaboration between AS and the Italian luxury boat builder, Riva

Heh... I don't think Jay counts. He has basket-case cars worth way more than a perfect Land Yacht. It's just pocket change to him.

I went in one at the factory service center in early Dec. The interior was beautiful and in addition to the electric up and down table, the bed did the same thing. What really surprised me was it had been built and sold with all the same plastic pieces that mine had on it. No stainless steel upgrades on the outside.

Well this makes me think my purchase was much more reasonable! Thanks for the added reassurance! Once my "remodel" is done, however, mine will be much more suited to my full timing needs (and my colorful tastes ) But if you can afford that sort of trailer it's doubtful you are limited to living there I suppose. Very classy!

Agreed!

I do like the teak strip style flooring very much and the choice of finishes overall. Definitely built to provide someone with means (though still not an AS afficianado) an occasional-use spare room or for overnight estate camping, such as might be done at a concours event.

I hope it sells well enough and can continue to work on this marriage of Airsteam with fine quality yacht coachwork, to perhaps produce some good wearing, lightweight and stylish new materials along the way.

What's most interesting to me is the answer to the question "How much does one have to pay for a new AS today actually build one with care?" From the look of this one, I'd say $150K still isn't enough. GYMs, low-end a/v equipment, basic appliances, nothing inspirational or breaking new ground among custom Airstreams in the same price range.

LandYacht shows promise, but pics like this shows whoever did or supervised the final prep really cared, or for that matter anything beyond the door facings reveal custom cabinetry at entry level yachting standards. Nice try, Airstream - now try just a little harder. The trickle down will be good for everyone concerned!

Glad I got mine. At this price range its white box time for the 99 percent crowd.
