Has anyone added a Lend-a-hand grab rail?

The time has come for a little extra help climbing the steps into the trailer. I'm thinking about adding a Stromberg Carlson Lend-a-hand grab rail to my '97 30' Classic. They have both an aluminum "sparkling silver" and a stainless steel version. I've seen one on a 34' but don't know how they fastened it. I don't know how wide the frame member is next to the door but I can feel a little flex under the spot where the screws would go. If anyone has done this, please share how you did it. I'm also open to other solutions.
