A sudden hail storm is one legitimate reason to begin drinking early in the morning...

Sure hope the hail causes no damage.

Working on pot of coffee #3 so about done for the day here in the UK. Was the favorite legal drink shipboard after water. If having some internal issues, coffee from the snipes made with pure boiler water had therapeutic side effects.

New Orleans blend coffee with chicory. I find it so bitter I can only drink it café au lait style— half coffee, half milk, lots of sweetener— but people who grew up with it say it's less bitter than real coffee. And chicory doesn't contain caffeine, either.

Chicory is a plant much like a dandelion except with blue flowers instead of yellow ones, and the dried, roasted, and ground root is added to ground coffee beans. It first became a tradition when New Orleans was being blockaded in the War Between the States. New Orleanians have the highest per capita consumption of coffee in the United States (and of ice cream, fried chicken, and alcohol, incidentally), and when their coffee imports couldn't get past the blockade, they turned to adding chicory to stretch their supply.

Community w/chicory is my everyday coffee of choice. Grew up drinking it.

Finally slowed down enough to stick my head outside. From what I can see from the ground no damage done. My garage has flooded for the first time since Katrina. Road in to my neighborhood is flooded with a couple of cars stopped in the water. We have another wave coming in a few, hopefully a bit toned down from the first.

What size hail? Good luck. I wouldn't think you would get big hail in Biloxi, but the weather this spring is crazy.

Coffee, I had to give it up, rot gut to me. Tea is my main caffeine source now.

About 1/2 inch but any hail here is pretty rare in my area. It usually goes north of the coast. Just took a look at the top by ladder and everything looks ok. Biggest concern was the end caps and vent covers. Sort of scary with the racket it was making coming down. I did have a couple of 6 inch limbs and several small ones broke off thanks to the wind. Overall no harm no foul.
