Getting a title

Morning!
I am unsure where to post this, but I have put a bid in on my first trailer. They have a chain of purchase recipts, but no title.

Since the trailer will have to come to me in Alaska, I am assuming I will need a title to put it on the ferry.

Anyone have experience in getting a title? Tips on where to start?

Tess

Get a Notraized Bill of Sale. The best way ...guaranteed BEST...make the seller get the title.

What year trailer, and what State is in right now? Not all states title older trailers.

I'd be very wary of buying a trailer that didn't have a title from a seller in a state where trailers are normally titled. A notarized chain of purchase agreements can easily be forged. The "notary" only provides some assurance that the person signing the document is who they say they are. It has nothing to do with the person signing the document's actual legal ownership of the trailer.

Being that you are in Alaska, you are a long way off to fix this in case you get caught up in a fraudulent sale. I'd be extra careful.

Good luck!

Best advice! Not getting a title at the time of sale was a two year nightmare for me.
