Firearms debate

I am not so naive to think that my opinion is THE OPINION. I understand completely, how charged this topic is. To my way of thinking, a firearm is in the same line of reasoning as is a fire extinguisher,-there when you need it. Just understand that the legal ramifications are mind boggeling. All that said, I would rather have one when I need it instead of needing one when I don't have one. The only time I would get i trouble for using a gun is because I used it and the only time I used it is because I needed it. Overly simplified? Yes! My opinion, afraid so.

Yes I do, have for 40 years.
In those 40 years I've never had a flat or blowout on a travel trailer but I still carry a spare. To each his own.

Congratulations on your Airstream!! Such an exciting time and so very much information to absorb. I have only had mine since last June, but am still wading through the thousands of informative posts on this site.

The search function can be tricky, so I often end up using Google to start and falling down the rabbit hole from there. There are certainly topics many will say have been discussed too many times already, but from a relatively-still newbie viewpoint, I appreciate posters asking them.

As a Canadian who owns and shoots many firearms (handguns mostly), it is not actually something I routinely camp with because we do not have carry permits up here. The only time I can legally transport my guns to and through the states is when I have a competition to attend. As a few have posted here, the laws do vary from state to state and you can easily find yourself in a sticky situation crossing borders. If you are travelling through the state of New York in particular, familiarize yourself with the SAFE act. That being said, if I'm towing to a competition my firearms will be with me! (but locked and stored )

Welcome to the amazing world of Airstreaming!! I look forward to reading about your adventures (even if I've read similar accounts 40 times already lol)

Do yourself a life favor and take the MAG20 class from http://massadayoobgroup.com
After taking the class and participating in the conversation, you will have your answer.
No forum will be able to answer what you've asked.

Besides, in the context of camping and outdoors, I'd rather have a solid foundation in Krav Maga than rely on a firearm that is locked away when needed most.

Your link came up empty for me, Maggie, but here are some search results for "firearm gun" showing many earlier threads for everyone's information:

https://www.google.com/search?q=fire...=airforums.com

The following representative threads, each of which is quite long, have been closed:

http://www.airforums.com/forums/f483...pon-90958.html
http://www.airforums.com/forums/f42/...ms-116112.html
http://www.airforums.com/forums/f483...ad-143562.html

In the above 3 threads are over 650 posts on the topic, which should be sufficient feedback in my opinion, enabling the closure of this thread at any point.

Peace on Earth.

PS -- There is a new search function at the top, a little to the right, inside the solid blue border. It works great.
