It would be nice to see Eddie Bauer get back to it's roots. From it's beginnings in the 20's? to the early 80's they were pretty much what North Face/Mountain Hardware/Marmot etc. are today, maybe even better. Heck I still have some 35/40 year old coats and vests. Much like the old LL Bean. Bauer sold the co. to General Mills in the late /60's, they in turn gradually tried to turn them into more of a mass market store (selling naming rights to Ford too). In 1988 GM sold EB to Speigel, they in turn failed and went into bankruptcy. A holding co. was then formed (EBH) which is also now in bankruptcy. A bit of a shame as I believe they were going to try to get it back to it's roots to some degree. However, while there are some decent things to be had clothing wise at Eddie Bauer, it is a shell of it's former self. I don't know, maybe it's time to let them name die and not cheapen it any more! Although I doubt that will happen.
I watched a video on this unit a while back (check you tube) it's pretty cool. Looks neat in the photos with the snow and such. Don't know if I would want to drive it through the mountains in the snow though!
