Dreams Do Come True!

Hello Everyone!
My husband and I just ordered our 2017 Flying Cloud 27FB twin yesterday! We can not wait until April when it arrives. I want to Thank all of you for this very informative forum, I read and follow all of the topics, and have learned so much. We have been researching and saving for two years, and our hard work has finally paid off. Our first trip will be to Bar Harbor Maine, just in time for the nice warm weather. We are beyond excited.

Thank you all again!
Denise

Congratulations! We have been Airstreaming for only three years since retiring but we are having a great time!

We have had two trailers - a 2001 Safari 25 and now the 2002 Classic 30 slideout, both with twins. We love the openness of the floor plan, the additional storage, and I love the longer bed.

Don't forget to send pictures. No pictures, it didn't happen!

Al

Congratulations! We will be picking up our 2017 27FB Flying Cloud with twin beds at the end of the month at Colonial Airstream in NJ. We traded-up from a 2014 25FB Flying Cloud because we liked the floor plan better. Unlike you, we will be heading South with it. It's been very cold and windy for the last few days in Boothbay Harbor, Maine, and Williamsburg, VA sounds awfully good.

Dreams Do Come True!

Congratulations 🎈 and to you as well kdinnar.

Our Pete is a '13 Flying Cloud 27fb twin and we absolutely love the floorplan. We have more storage than we can use and plenty of room for the two of us and often with our six and three yo grandkids accompanying us.

Enjoy!

DCwalina ---

Way to go!!! I wish you much happiness with your new AS.

We found the FC 27 FB a great compromise between the 25 & the 30, and after 15K miles with it last summer, both of us remain convinced it was and remains the right AS for us (although with the central queen bed).

Just curious, did any of you go with the 50amp dual air conditioners. We are still researching and not sure about this issue. Plan to spend some time in the south but not during the summer. Interested in an Int'l Sig 25FB.

Thank you.

Congrats!!!!! We are heading to Acadia (again) this summer. Great place. Colonial has great people. Our annual spring break in April is south to St. Augustine FL.

Suggest checking our Schoodic Woods campground at www.recreation.gov. Brand new campground with large and secluded sites versus Blackwoods Campground (small, tight sites and overcrowded). Electric/Water. Many Bike trails. You can go to Bar Harbor via Ferry.

Yes, dreams do come true.

Congratulations and best of luck with your new Airstream. We have had our 25'FC for less than a year, and like you we've learned so much from this forum as well. We also recently attended Alumaflamingo where we met so many helpful, friendly Air streamers and thoroughly enjoyed the seminars on maintenance, safety, repairs, etc. If your schedule allows for it, there is also an Alumapalooza at the AS Factory in Ohio, starting May 30, 2017. This rally could be invaluable to a new owner.

I hope you have lots of great trips in your future and that you enjoy your new AS as much as we have.

If even considering the SouthWest or deep South in a future summer, the two air conditioners will be really appreciated.

Where we park our 31' Classic for the summer, we currently only have 30 amp power service. So we can run the rear A/C while we are in the front the the front when we go to bed. Reduces the noise level. So a simple Furrion adapter pigtail coming out of the trailer power inlet lets me use a standard 30 amp cord (three #10 wires) versus the 50 amp cord (four #6 wires).

In both trailers, we removed the 6 gallon water heater that used 120Vac and replaced it with a Trump AquaGo comfort instant on propane powered water heater that uses 12Vdc control voltage. In both trailers, we replaced the stock refrigerator with a Vitrifrigo freon based refrigerator with a Dan Foss compressor that uses 12Vdc (about 68 watts) and has it's own 120Vac converter when on shore power. The refrigerator is very cooling efficient and easy on power. That increased usable payload by 50 pounds as we are not storing six gallons of water in the old water heater.

We were able to place five 100 watt solar panels on the roof of our 2015 23D International Serenity with a 300 amp hour lithium battery and nine 100 watt solar panels on the roof the 2014 31' Classic that has a 600 amp hour lithium battery.

We can actually run one air conditioner for awhile off of the 600 amp hour battery.

The hybrid Magnum MSH-3012 inverter in the 23D can draw additional power from the 300 amp-hour lithium battery to help start up the single 13,500 BTU air conditioner while running on a single 2,000 watt Honda generator. It can cycle as necessary.

Lots of options out there to consider. Many folks think it is better to have it built with the 50 amp service and seldom need it than wish it had been installed.
