What about one of those faux stained glass decals..the removable ones (window clings? I think available at Walmart or any Michaels etc..Will let a lil light through but much softer.

Can try but with my luck it will not stick! Window is not smooth.

Window cling film can go outside or inside, and one side is bound to be smooth enough for it to stick.

Don't have to go with chrome/silver. Even clear bubbles (available for packing packages at FedEx and UPS) will cut glare, but will still let in light.
