I lent mine to someone once. I was sick when it pulled out of the driveway. I will NEVER lend it out to anyone but my children. They know exactly how everything operates & they know how I feel about it. It's not just a "camper". One friend told me to let her know when I'm finished refurbishing the Bambi II so she could bring her grandkids over to play in it......HUH??? WHAT??? That's the mentality of normal people and "campers"...not us Airstreamers!!

One shouldn't loan out their guns, dog, truck, Air Steam or wife in that order.

I never loan anything without a cash deposit equaling twice the value of the item loaned. I've kept a few tool deposits...

My answer would be..

Maybe...
But before you do, I just wanted to ask a favor in return...
Ya see the black tank is full.
I think there is a something stuck in the toilet, but my forearm is just a little too thick to reach it... I did try, but as soon as I opened the valve the smell was so strong I was retching, and had to get out quick... it took about a week for the smell to go away.
The local RV place refused the job, but if you are willing to have a go, we can talk about it after you fish out whatever is causing the problem...

Hey, be careful.

Rubber gloves do wonders.

For us, it's moot. Any time we're not prepping for or cleaning up from a trip, I'm tearing out some part of the insides. "It's under construction" is a good reason for declining.

Once it's done being refurbished, the answer would still be "No." It would just take too much of my/our time to orient someone to all of the various systems - the tender and precious front door latch, electrical limitations, composting toilet operation, water conservation, emptying the gray water bucket, etc., etc., etc.

I'd rather lend out my guest room. And if someone isn't a close enough friend to ask for that, they're not close enough to ask for the Airstream.

Why, sure. But only if they look like decent law-abiding citizens. I can always tell, ya know.

I am looking to own one in the next year or so....

I did go through this with my bass boat....

Brother asked me if I would loan it...

Uhhh, no....if he broke it, he could not pay for it and I was at that time still paying the payments...

He got all pissy, but a precedent was set...I would rather be viewed as a stingy d$%k than have another person brake my stuff...

I can see this question coming on my future AS...the answer is indeed NO....

So it is some church member...if you feel that strong of a moral obligation to help this person, put em up in your house or pay some rent to them...I would rather shell out 200-400 bucks if a person really needs help than have them trash my treasured toys....

I've got to add another NO to the growing list. I think it's a pretty presumptuous thing to ask someone who is just an acquaintance.

I also agree with the sentiment that my trailer feels more personal for some reason and I wouldn't want someone staying in it unless it was family or my very best friends and even then only when I am in it or nearby to help them understand how to use it.

My step daughter once asked me to use it for her birthday weekend once. I just smiled and told her I wouldn't want something to get broken with out me doing it. Later, I was like, what a thing to ask. I never would have ever even thought to ask my parents to just use there airstream as a young adult. They would have laughed in my face. I've worked hard and continue to, to have nice things for my wife and I to enjoy. It's an entitlement thing with young adults these days. Get a good job and go forth on your own and leave my toys alone.
