Sure!!!

A few "rules"... You give me the cash for it. I will hold it for you. When you get back I will have everything repaired / cleaned acceptable to my wife's preference
And deduct the amount from the cash you left for me to keep warm for you.

If it doesn't come back in a repairable state, the money I am holding is considered a deposit on the remainder you owe to repair/replace.

BTW, they don't make the 34's anymore...so the "cash"'will be impressive.

Even for the most generous owner who may wish to loan their Airstream, I doubt a borrower would have the knowledge and experience to properly pull, set up, and then repeat alone the reconnection and return pull. My "preflight" checklist requires several minutes to properly carry out, and folks who borrow usually do not care for other's stuff this way.

It took lots of time to learn the systems on the trailer and even longer to fine tune them. I have a very vested interest in making sure everything is operated properly, tire pressures checked, wheel lug nuts checked etc. Our setup requires a tow vehicle setup up like ours. There is a proper way to run the modifications made to our truck.

My son once said of a rental car we were rear ended in, "Don't worry Dad, it is just a rental." However, it was someone else's property.

I think the many posters that said they would let the guests stay in the house while they used the AS hit the nail on the head. Everyone vaguely knows how to operate home equipment, the mobile equipment is not always intuitive.

Our truck and trailer will end up with new owners after we are buried and that's okay.. We can't take it with us....

my insurance doesn't cover anyone else towing it or using it. So sorry.

I would not, ever, to anyone, period. End of story. And the reason is that my insurance doesn't cover anyone else towing it or using it. So sorry.

That reason works with my pickup, which many people have asked to borrow. My insurance doesn't cover anyone else towing it or using it. So sorry.

The thing is, the people who are real friends aren't going to ask to borrow a truck or a trailer, because they respect you too much. The people who don't know you probably won't ask either. So that leaves the great middle ground of people who are merely acquaintances, who are presuming to an intimacy to which they're not entitled. If they're that clueless, then I don't trust them enough to lend anything I'm not willing to pay to replace. And beyond that, if they're in that great middle ground--you know, religious organization, club or community organization "friends"--you can't force them to pay for damage without destroying community relations. So: my insurance doesn't cover anyone else towing it or using it. So sorry.

I built my trailer with simplicity in mind using common household fixtures that everyone is familiar with.

I made it as simple as I practically could. If I had bought an automatic power transfer switch it would be simpler yet.

Ixnay on the onlay.

People are slobs. Cigarette smoke/burns, broken things they don't know how to use, plugged up drains. The list is endless. I barely tolerate guests when I'm there!

Just failing to wipe their feet before stepping into the house-AS is enough!!

One I remember was we were holding a meeting in our home, and one of the attendees pulled out a cigarette, had the lighter out and lit, then asked for an ashtray. I told him we did not allow smoking in the house under any circumstances, have no ashtrays, and suggested he go outside on the back patio. He glanced out the window, and said, "you are not serious, aren't you? It's pouring rain out there!

My reply: "I'm dead serious..."

He put the lighter and cig away.

"Can I borrow your new-born baby for a week? I'll be very careful." My older AS would be like borrowing a new-born with medical problems... I love her like nobody else can! The answer of course is NO.

Very few people actually know about our AS and we like it that way. No, we would not loan it. I agree, most people would not have the vested interest in it that we do and thusly would not care for it like we do.

Hell we don't even own an airstream yet, and I wouldn't allow anyone to borrow any of your trailers. I've read how much work, time, and most importantly, passion you all have invested in your trailers.

Heck when I finally get mine, I don't even think I'll be able to let my wife use it.

The systems and customizations to our modified Airstream are more complex than standard. Very few folks return even a clean hand tool they borrow. The trailer borrower could could return a disaster and not even know it.

We decided to be very selective on who even works on our unit.

In our experience with our first Airstream, some dealers are just slobs and incompetent at best. I went to pick it up after a service and the floor was covered with black grease off some mechanics shoes. The repairs were not done properly and had to be done over. Due to a complete screw up, the unit sat on the dealer's lot for 25% of the year we had the unit.

The challenge is learning how to do as much as is possible myself so the "Three Stooges" don't destroy the unit fixing it.....
