Determining what Mattress to buy

Just curious as to how one determines what mattress to buy on line say from rocky mountain as one cannot try it out before hand.

thanks
John

Hi John- We replaced the original Airstream mattress in our 2006 23' Safari. The mattress was poor after the first year. It got to the point we had no way to replace it with another, as the mattress was made to "fit" the contour of the back of the trailer.

Solution: Novafoam 3 inch Mattress Topper (a full size costs $120 at Costco).

THREE INCHES thick... it feels like it may as well be six or more inches. Pure comfort for us. If not enough for you, double it. Our 2014 International has a Queen with a factory "foam mattress" and it is very comfortable. I am sure that the Costco or some other store that sells these would be easy to find.

Our home Queen sized mattress and springs were hauled off as trash. We have the multilayered foam mattress that is about 10 or more inches thick and absolutely wonderful. Both were at Costco and after we replaced the home mattress, we immediately purchased the thinner three inch memory foam option.

If your 25' has storage under the bed and needs to be lifted up, the thinner mattress is probably the option you will need. If not... check them out. I was a "non believer" at first... now you cannot shut me up!

Good luck and I hope that I am not too late...

My wife and I have found the mattress on our 2012 fairly comfortable, but just added a 2" 4lb. density topper for the heck of it. It was cheap...about $60 and feels quite nice. It also helps the mattress pad (bought from Airstream) fit much nicer. We have a fairly firm mattress at home with a pillow top...and it feels very similar. Good luck.

My wife said to double it if the 3 inches is not enough.

I slid a small green pea under the mattress and immediately she felt it.

I could handle the single, but she said she doubled it. So try the putting a green pea under a single topper... and if you get away with it, you saved some money.

We have already added the additional foam but to no avail so we will be oing with a new mattress just not sure which one. Will probabably go to camping world to see what they carry and the compare to a couple of other brands.

If you like a firm memory foam mattress, Rocky Mountain is the best choice. We love ours.
