De-stickerfying a newer Airstream

Some of the stickers on our AS must have been removed by the PO. Don't have as many as some have mentioned.

It is interesting just how many "Captain Obvious" type stickers there are nowadays. Like the coffee cup labels that say "contents are very hot".

Or the "Safety Instructions" that come with darn near any electrical appliance or power tool that are way longer than the actual operating instructions.

I guess 'common sense' is no longer common. And all we can do is blame that state of affairs on the lawyers....on both sides of the issue.

My lawyer buddy used to claim "the law is an ass!" and I think he was being conservative...it has been quite a few years since I heard him say that.😬😬

Oh yes, the de-stickering day was one of my favorite days in the first year with the AS.
The only ones I left on was the one with the serial number and weights, and the one above the sewer flush reminding me that it is not the city water connection!

Do you mean the stickers? Or the lawyers?

I recently bought a nice new Trek bicycle. Had to take a bunch of stickers off that. Took most stickers off the airstream early on. I view these lime the tags on a new mattress. To be removed asap.

Hi, I had no problem peeling all of the stickers that I wanted removed from my Airstream. WD-40 works pretty good. Goo Gone, or whatever it's called, didn't work for me when I needed it. My favorite glue remover is lighter fluid. On kitchen items, I use mayonnaise.

Please use a soft terry cloth rag or microfiber towel when removing decals.
I removed the "Certified Green" sticker from the lower panel to the right of the entry door with a sponge and it marred the clearcoat.
I was so disappointed I left the RVIA sticker.
The Thor sticker and the yellow tire inflation stickers came off without a fight.
Goo Gone, WD-40, and Ronsonol lighter fluid all work great to remove sticky, gooey glue.

I did all the interior stickers. The stove was a bitch... As for the outside ones, I will get to it once the warranty expires in Sep!

If you are on a boat and see a lawyer drowning, do you:
A: Carry on eating reading
B: Put the paper down and have lunch.

2nd. WD40 & GooBGone
The sticker behind the stove was the worst. All of those stickers were off within 90 days. Only the one with the trailer weight remains.

Oh yea - got rid of them right away. I had the factory installed stickers plus a few from the dealer. Got rid of all of them one at a time (slowly).

It's ironic. This thread and the other one about the big red numbers and how to put them on..... 😮

No irony at all, in my opinion. The difference is number stickers you want versus lawsuit-avoidance stickers someone else thinks you need.

Personally, I think the irony is that the stickers everyone is so keen to remove are installed for the sole purpose of keeping lawyers out of the mix. It wasn't lawyers who said the stickers were needed— it was company executives who have endured too many lawyers already and want to avoid dealing with more.

Lawyers would prefer no stickers and more lawsuits, because they make money off of lawsuits and not off of stickers.

Try a heat gun to warm up the sticker and peel it off.
Then WD-40 or similar to remove glue residue.
I have NOT tried it on my new AS yet, but it has worked in other situations.
Just don't COOK the sticker.

Too true!

Or as I like to put it, "I'm not stubborn. My way is just better, that's all."

I would bet that Thor/Airstream has a large high dollar law firm on permanent retainer and speed dial. They are advising the corporation on each and every aspect of business including all those pesky labels.

Stickers

As someone who is in the business, I first want to clarify that they are not stickers, they are pressure sensitive decals applied with adhesive. You can thank our legal system, and Airstream not wanting to be sued by all the people out there in the world who seem to figure out all kinds of ways to hurt themselves
in ways we can't even imagine. Also, in our culture, branding has become the thing, even for Airstream. So people like me sell an unbelievable number of warning and instructional and decorative decals as a result. Sorry but there is no easy way to move them because they really don't want them removed. When you sell your AS to someone who then injures themselves and there is no warning label, guess what....lawsuit!
