Camping in northern Florida

Does anyone have a favorite campground in Jacksonville or St Augustine Florida? Are there any beachfront campgrounds like on the other coast of Florida? thanks

https://www.floridastateparks.org/park/Gamble-Rogers (a little south of your area of interest)

We love this place - be sure and check out the Funky Pelican in Flagler Beach for some great shimp and grits...Geo...

Fort Clinch on Amelia Island was nice, Anastasia and Gamble Rogers are both great spots. They are expanding Gamble Rogers on the inland waterway side.
You can't go wrong with any of these. Greg

I've heard some mention Beverly Beach but have no experience myself.

Stayed at Anastasia this March. Great sites, easy access to beach and quiet!

Little Talbot Island, north of Jacksonville.

Campground not on the beach but across the road. Warning, if coming north along the coast on A1A, you will need to take a pay ferry to get to the park. Coming from the west on I295 no such requirement. Check the map when planning your route.

Greg

We spend Christmas at Little Talbot. It is a very nice small state park on the creek/marsh. It is about 15 minutes walk to a beautiful beach.

We LOVE Anastasia State Park in St. Augustine: close to town, nice sites...NOT directly on the ocean. The beach there is FABULOUS and a short distance from the campsites.

(I hear Bulow is great, too,but I have not stayed nor visited there. Also, it is not in St. Auggie.)

I agree on the Florida state parks web site. Look for the campground in Gainsville. (I know it is not on either coast.) There is a nature center that includes several hundred acres of prairie preserve with a herd of wild Buffalo, and also wild horses. Great walking trails. Nice campsites.

Beverly Beach is right on the ocean south of St Augustine, Bryn Mawr is on the beach in St augustine and there is also Hanna Park, a city park at Jacksonville Beach. The first two are commercial. We live on Amelia Island near Fort Clinch and it as well as Little Talbot island and Anasthasia are great State parks
