Like Greg said...Ft. Clinch State Park in Fernandina Beach is a great place to spend a couple of days, and its off one of the first I-95 exits after to cross into Florida. They have two campgrounds....a completely sun-exposed one near the beach (which I avoid), and a more rustic one in an old dune system underneath Spanish moss- covered live oaks. Its a great walk from that campground along the beaches of the St. Marys River to the Atlantic Ocean beaches...full of shark teeth, a long pier for fishing, etc. And downtown Fernandina Beach has been renovated over the past 20 years to where its worth walking around...nice ice cream shops, bars, restaurants etc. I'll be there in about 4 weeks. Safe travel. jon

One more vote for Fort Clinch as a great spot with two varied camping environments and plenty of small town things to do.

Here is the "river" campground:

We have stayed several times at Anastasia SP. In our opinion the sites listed in loop "COQU" are the best location. The staff is one of the friendliest in the FL SP's.

We stayed at Gamble Rogers last Dec for one night on our way to the FL Keys. The campground is small and limited to shorter RV's. Just after we pulled into the site the "host" came over and said we would need to be straighter in the site. Soon after one of the younger rangers came by and said the same. After some discussion I moved the trailer. The front stabilizer bars moved less than 6" as we were by no means angled in the site. This seemed to satisfy the ranger. Later the senior ranger came by and explained the rules. Farther into the campground a large 5th wheel was parked at an extreme angle in order to avoid blocking the drive. At the time we had a weeks reservation for May of this year, which we cancelled due to our experience.

Here is a Tampa Bay Times article I stumbled on today thy ranks Florida's top 10 beachfront camp grounds. My favorite is Grayton Beach State Park, though I have never camped there, I live only 4 miles away on the Bay. GBSP has Western Lake, one of 15 Glogally rare Coastal Dune lakes and one of Dr Beach's former picks as the World's most beautiful beaches. But then you did ask for Atlantic side camp grounds😎

Hi JaySeeJay,
Great to see a fellow Airstreamer so close, let's have coffee or a beer sometime! From your pics it looks like you like Fort Clinch as much as we do.

Faver-Dykes State Park is very nice; it is just south of St. Augustine off of I-95. They have camp sites for up to 35' RV's with 30 amp electric. They have a dump station

Try Ginnie Springs - the caves are notably awesome.
