Yupper! Close enough I can home my camping and AS skills while I can be close enough to run home if I forget anything....

Now, if you are only a 20 minute WALK away, that may elect you for THE PRIZE!

We do it all the time...just getting out in the Airstream is a great...even if it's half an hour away...it doesn't always have to be a major trip.

We sometimes do driveway camping. Fun and doesn't cost anything! No phones, no computer, no work!

Since gas is so high, and Lake Michigan is close to me, I camp the Dunes often! Makes it easy for the family to pop in for a night if they can too! Takes me about 35-40 minutes out the door.

Absolutely!!!!

We originally booked one long weekend each month from April to October and after our first trip realized that just wasn't gonna do! So most weekends if we can sneak out Friday night to a campground within an hour from home, we're camping!!!

All the time...year round between longer trips. Two of our favorite campsites are 16 miles and 32 miles from home.

Yes... and why not when you live in a place like San Diego, which is 45 minutes away from our favorite beach camping site, and 1 hour away from our favorite mountain camping site, and 2 hours away from our favorite desert camping site!

We and our Corgis love getting away on camping outings, and our F-250, Safari, and our now second set of Marathon tires particularly benefit!

And, along with the cost of fuel... well, it's a win-win situation!

Hi, no never; We need to go way farther than that just to get away from the city. The closest place that we camp to our home is the last place, on the way home, where we can do a final tank flush and be home sometime in the afternoon.

Yes we do, because we don't live by the ocean in our stick house.

It is nice to smell the Salish Sea in the morning.

68 miles return.

Absolutely! One of our favorite spots to camp is about 3 miles as the crow flies... Another is about 12 miles away. As long as we were out camping, we had a great time.

Every chance we get.
North Abutment campground Grenada Lake 30 something miles from home.
George Payne Cossar State Park 50 something miles from home.
On any random Friday afternoon I can leave work at 5 and be at a campground by 6, especially if I take my trailer to work with me.

Camp Close to Home?

Yes! As this is written we are camped at Newport News City Park, a well-kept secret just over the water from Virginia Beach.

Close to home allows for one last spur of the moment daddy-daughter get away before school starts next week. As others have stated, when you live in a destination area why not take advantage of it. We are at a beautiful state park 15 miles from home. As a bonus we have some friends who are going to stop by for a visit without having to spend the night.

We've just booked a September weekend in Earl Rowe Provincial Park, 50 minutes north of Toronto. Great fishing, close to home which makes it easy for friends to join us.

We're of an age where everybody is having kids, so very long journeys are a bit of a challenge.

Most of our camping is done 30 miles from home. We own another piece of property 30 miles from here. No running water and no electricity, but 80 acres with a 23 acre pond.
We also sit in the camper when it is parked in the yard.
We go to campgrounds to see what it is like to have neighbors.

We often camp in our local Provincial Park just 35 minutes from the home. The beach is good and there's space for the dog.

We're on a longer trip at the moment and the kids are not all that enthralled with it, they like being closer to home, that's for sure.
