Ah, I guess we could camp here, but that's the last thing we want to do!

I go out to my "dog house"(shop) when I have been banished, temporarily....

We have not camped in driveway, but our son and his wife did while we kept grandkritters inside house during last visit...

No. 13- which areas in or around OC do you like to go? Ever spend anytime in Huntington? We are in South OC.

One of our absolute favorite parks is Illini State Parks, Marseilles, Illinois which is about 20 minutes from our house. Sites 1-20 are right on the Illinois River. During the day you can sit at your site and watch the big river barges go by. We purposely bought a FB so that when we back in, our dining table and big widows face the river to catch that view. In the morning, the sunrise is over the river to your right. I've been known to drive home for something I've forgotten. I've even commuted to work from this site and left my partner at the campground. Sometimes you think you need to drive 4-5 hours to camp and be on vacation but if it's 20 minutes from your house, why not?

You can go further, but you won't find a better campground.
Here are some of the reasons we camp close to home- aside from the fact you get there with little gas and after work on a Friday afternoon-

We camp every year on 15 miles from home at our favorite state park. It's just far enough away that our whole routine changes, but close enough we can bring all our toys.

We have a state park about 45 minutes away that is open all year. We have been there a lot!

We may well hold the record for camping in a campground close to home. We have attended several of the Canopener Rallies over the years at Topsail State Park in Santa Rosa Beach, Florida. We live a little over 2 miles from the campground. It takes quite a bit longer to hook-up the trailer than it takes to get to the campground.

We'll see you at Canopener- but it's a little more than 2 miles for us...

You beat us, we have a family camp out every year in a nice campground that's 7 miles away. Just drop the trailer on the ball and go.
