Does anyone use a folding Adirondack chair? Seems like the solid arms and good back support would be nice if the weight wan't too much of an issue. Thinking they could just go in the truck bed. Anyone?

I had never even considered but in a bit of googling it seems doable - a tad bulkier than the lafuma - it's approximately 18 lbs and one of the wood chairs folding is 25 lbs - doable though
Interesting idea for sure - could double for home patio use
I would need to see how they look all folded up in their profile but with all that size and weight I doubt it would be more comfortable than the zero gravity types?

Pharma, getting in and out of the zeros can be a task, in my experience. But mine is not the fancy one you have. And truth be told, my zero chair from Westlake hardware probably weighs in at least 25 pounds.
We had some back yard Adirondack chairs from LL Bean in our last house. The flat armrest is nice for eating. Or for a beverage. They don't blow away. Thinking of these for my Camping Hope Chest.

Yes - many of the ones I tried (zero gravity) at camping world were upwards of 30 some 34 lbs!
We have no issues getting out of ours but I could imagine some could
Great idea on those folding chairs for sure though
You could add a bit of cushion fabric to those and nap in them easy.

We (wife and I) want a couple to tote for quick visits with our friends when we camp and for sitting closer in to campfire when camping in colder weather - the eureka curvy low riders look awesome and have a laid back profile it appears
Also need a couple for kids and these being lower they can double as that
Just realizing that kids more and more now at ages 2 and 4 will be wanting their own camp chairs as they grow up - our little Olivia age nearly two will plop down and sit like a big girl - super cute

I'll put in my two cents for the alum. frame, nylon weave front lawnchairsusa.com. Super lightweight, fold flat, and easy to wipe dry if needed. Several styles and colors available. We haven't used anything else (camping) since we got them this summer. And love the retro look!

Camp Chair Mulling
While visiting family in CA a few weeks ago we were fortunate to enjoy summer like weather with temps 70-80°.
My daughter had purchased two Alite Mantis chairs for a month in Italy & Greece and tossed them in a tote for our unexpected west coast beach days. Although quite pricey, they are super light weighing less than two lbs. and were crazy comfortable for beach use. Will definitely be on the look out for good sale!
Just thought I would share a good find-

Met a couple airstreamers while here in Florida this weekend (port st joe) and got to sit in their zip dee chairs - two types - the older stainless steel chrome played ones - a "wide" version (apparently they don't make these anymore) and a new one that is not "wide".
They look so classy - fold up small - but....having compared them to other chairs - I won't buy them. If I had that nifty storage compartment I would though

Just stumbled upon his thread. We are in the market for new chairs now as our 5 year old Alps Leisure chairs are beginning to fail.
First, let me say that these are the most comfortable chairs I have tried short of the "lounge" type that are simply too large for us to travel with.
I have sat in every conceivable brand and type of folding chair at every WBCCI event we have attended. Without exception, we like the Alps the most comfortable for both my wife and I. At 6'3" and 230 lbs to her 5'0" 104 lbs, we are as far apart on the body type scale as possible so that is no small feat!
That said, I do hate packing the hings in their bags and stowing them in the truck. They do pack into a rather small "tube" but that tube is not symmetrical and it is somehow always a pain to find a good place for them.
I am thinking about ZipDee chairs now. I have sat on them and basically I remember no bad thoughts. They are not cheap though and I hesitate to take the plunge before I try one again...
My thought is to buy a couple ZipDee's for the campsite and perhaps get a couple of the Mantis chairs for lounging when an uprite ZipDee is not called for....
Just kind of thinking out loud here...

We saw these at our FODS rally and bought them from overstock.com. There may be better deals out there, we paid $89 each and LOVE them!

Do you find them comfortable? Is that what you like about them the best?

I tried a pico type in CW - I think they are on same par of comfort as zip dee - not arguably as durable and long lasting though perhaps depending on use?
I have not looked at these alps chairs - I will though!
I want a couple smaller comfy camp chairs in addition to out lafuma ZG chairs
My list as it is something like this in no particular order at this point:
Eureka curvy type
Strongback
Pico
Helinox One (a strong favorite for me right now)
Zip Dee
Haven't looked at these alps types
Law chair USA basic aluminum type
Kermit chair (Im doubtful of this one - helinox in the same class for much less money and looks more comfy IMO )
Zip Dee are comfy enough and they last forever (the one last night was 12 years old and looked perfect) and they store very flat
I'll have to look into these alps chairs as well

They are very comfortable to us. I'm 5'8" 160 and Zell is 6'2" 150 and we both like them. We also have a blow up ottoman that we use as well. The ease of storage and the vented material are my two favorite features! If you buy one just make sure they have a free and easy return just incase you don't like them.

FYI, the Alite Mantis is on sale directly from Alite Designs for $70 today...
I am thinking a pair of these for lounging by the camp fire and a pair of ZipDee's for the campsite...
Now I have to compare the Mantis to the Helinox.

We've had two Zip Dee chairs for five years and they spend at least 6 months each year outdoors as we travel. They are a very good and strong basic chair, heavy enough to not blow around in the wind, don't sink into sift ground when sitting, and reasonably comfortable. The canvas looks as good as new, the wood armrests shown minor weathering from being outdoors, and the chromed steel frames have a little rust color at the connections, nowhere else. They easily fold up to be compact.
If you need a good, reliable, compact chair that can take the rigors of travel, it's a good buy.
