Sitting here in an old cheap sling chair thinking, "It's mostly comfortable, but the canvas material sure is rough on my elbows. Maybe I just have sensitive skin."

The proper way to sit in a sling chair:
Slouch-
Turn sideways-
Put one elbow in the cup holder-
Throw opposite leg over the arm of the chair like you're at home in the recliner-

Congrats on your new purchase! I hope your chairs arrive soon, and that you and your wife love them.

What made you decide to go with the Futura Clipper vs. Lafuma's other zero-g models? I'm trying to decide if the horizontal support between the sides at the bottom of the legs or the other support between the top sides of the backrest will be digging into my feet and my head. Any thoughts on that from anyone?

Also why is the Evolution version so much more expensive? How about the "Air Comfort" version of the Evolution - "The" Mac Daddy of their line-up . It is even more pricey! I'm wondering what you get for the extra money besides the elimination of the two supports that I'm concerned about.

They're not cheap... about $140 plus $40 for a few options like leg extensions (mandatory, IMHO) and cupholders. But... incredibly well made with wood frames, super comfy for a camp chair, and super portable (I take mine on motorcycle camp trips, and can store 4 of them in an AS closet). Recommend getting the wider version.

They will easily last a lifetime if well cared for. Only issue besides cost is not wanting to leave them unattended, given the cost, and the tendency for others to Bogart your Kermit chair if given the opportunity. Around the motorcycle rally campfires, Kermit chairs are highly coveted.

The futura was all there was in size XL

Otherwise backcountry rep said they felt the bungee models were great too - I was forced because I wanted XL for added length

The padding seems comfy but obviously more cost and I heard some feedback from someone on this thread that the material with those is not as good....but mostly after sitting in the target ZG I think for it's use the mesh will be just fine

The padding would be nice though I bet

Initial impressions

First I fit fully without feet over foot rest that is nice with the XL

Operation is noticeably smoother and locking the tension locks is easier and really locks in for me and holds as I shift and even try to make it slip

Really impressed by the appearance - looks great

Headrest is soft enough like it

Movie test to come tonight

The Evolution is full length support- see pics on leg area. That and the materials are the only real difference. The Futura is overall the best for most people. Just don't get their poly cotton padded fabric as I did.

We should get a couple of those.
I was waiting to get a tonneau first.
That ain't necessary- we can put them in the back seat- 2 people riding around in a crew cab...
