I figure that $10k -- beyond purchase price -- is the opening budget on most any TT past 15-years.
this is in line with our 62 GT and our budget for the future reno of the 57.
IMHO, any vintage trailer is going to need work and not have ZERO problems unless your buying from timeless or another professional restoration outfit.
I personally think that any old trailer will need the following:
- i'd recommend replacing the axle on any trailer over 40 yrs old. (many say 30). just not worth the risk to me.
- vulkem seams
- new tires, new wheels if split rims (early 60's and older split rims are more common)
- Good chance of having plumbing issues
- Good chance of having appliance issues
Now, my dad wants an old trailer thats CHEAP and in perfect condition, no issues. I told him - "you can have one or the other, not both."
