Any fellow DINKs in the crowd?

We've noticed the Airstream crowd is either older and retired or younger with kids. I'm wondering if there's other Dual Income No Kids (DINKs) out there in Airstreamland?

My wife and I are 15 years away from retirement. But we boated for 15 years and are looking forward to out new landlocked adventure. We've set it up as a "weekend getaway" that we can enjoy almost every weekend, and twice a year we'll coordinate our vacations and go somewhere for the week.

Any other DINKs out there?

That's a term I haven't heard in 30 years. Back when I was a DINK.

Any fellow DINKs in the crowd?

Well, my wife Linda and I are 57 yr old DINKS. Funny coincidence, just a couple of hours ago she asked me, "What do you call a DINK once they reach their late 50's?". I answered, "A geezer!". 😬

Another DINK or DINKER?

Pic of my dog. He's 15. Nearing "retirement".

SINKED?
Shared income* no kids except dog.

One gets paid to work, the other works at multiple organizations as a volunteer - so one income is shared - dog is pretty darn close to being a kid 😀

I think now I may have moved on to full GEEZER as I am at the point of replacing body parts. I got a new knee about a month ago.

Whoa, Smartsteam … I think that big fella counts as two kids. Especially if it's a rain day. 😎

If you are "through the tunnel" with the kids launched and on their own, does that make us
DINKIRs?

Dual Income
No Kids In Residence

We were, then we retired, so we lost the "I" part.

Not DINKS, but DIKIC (Dual Income Kid in College)... so almost done and I'm in my early 50's... wife is age unknown (jk)... a bit less.

We figured with nearly no debt, it would be a good time to buy the Airstream that way it's fully paid off when we really decided to retire.

But it does seem that folks with Airstreams that I've seen fall into one of the two major categories you mentioned.

For my first three years of Airstreaming I was a SINKOW (single income, no kids or wife). No pets or houseplants, either. Whenever I got three or more days in a row away from work, I took my Airstream somewhere. Not always as far from home as I liked, and sometimes I had to drive farther my first and last days than was really safe to get to and from a destination slightly too far away for the limited time I had available, but it was always fun.

I guess I'm a RINKOW now (retirement income, no kids or wife). Scheduling is more flexible, and I don't have to hurry to get anywhere, so it's more relaxing, but no less fun. Thanks to Federal civil service, I was able to retire at a younger age than many, but hopefully those who had to retire later in life won't hold that against me. Working for the Government— in a non-elected, non-appointed position where you actually have to be able to do the job in order to get the job— makes you older, faster, than working for just about anybody else.

We are retired and on just my Social Security. Does that mean we're OINKS? Well, we still have one at home in college so a couple more years of OIKIC.

We are DIGKWK (duel income, grown kids with kids), in other words: Grandparents!
Great institution, unless they live with you... Last boomerangs moved out a little over a year ago. So, now we just have furry babies.

Fellow DINK

We just retired, so I guess that would make us a FINK, (fixed income, no kids). Feels pretty good.

DINKs here (+cat, but he stays at home, hates to travel).

We are reasonably young (46/32), but so looking forward to retirement now that we have the Airstream. Glad we invested in it early to realize that we do love the lifestyle and not waiting another 20 years.
