Any Boy Scouts here?

I love the Boy Scouts.

What a great program for our youth.

We should have a Boy Scout sub-forum.

Troop 198! Over 30 years experience in hiring and training law enforcement and marine safety personnel, and was always excited to see Eagle Scout on a resume. I hired many, with no regrets.

Proud father of an Eagle Scout here! I'm also a former tiger den leader, troop committee leader, district committee member, Venturing Crew advisior, Powderhorn staff, and Jambo staff member.

Next week I have a meeting with local scout Execs to form a new Venturing Crew specializing in Space Exploration and rocketry!

Best decision ever was to get the girls into the BSA!

Back to Philmont

Eagle Scout and OA earned at Troop 1680 in Alexandria, VA. I visited Philmont in the summer of 1971 and sat on top of the Tooth of Time on my 16th birthday. We are taking our Airstream to northern New Mexico this fall to the ABQ Balloon Fiesta, to the Cumbres & Toltec Railroad, and to Angel Fire. I plan to make a day trip to Philmont while at Angel Fire. After 41 years it is time for a new belt.

Chuck, 2 of the best experiences of my life happened the same year, 1967. I spent 2 months at Philmont on the summer staff (I went in 1966 as a camper) and attended the World Jamboree held at Farragut State Park, Idaho. I also plan on visiting Philmont next year during my New Mexico and Arizona trip next year.

Philmont 5/11/53. Big problem; my red wool jacket with the bull doesn't fit.
But; oh the memories

Well, Chuck, we have even more to talk about at The Canopener this/next year. I did Philmont 1960, 1961; Eagle 1963; Philmont 1993, 1995. OA and Lodge Chief. Presided at son's Eagle ceremony 1997.

We have removed several posts that attempt drag this discussion into the arena of politics, gender orientation, and other topics that frankly don’t belong here. Folks there is no room for this type of discussion here at Airforums. Please keep this thread on track.

Troop 332 Life Scout before moving to Explorer Scouts (Law Enforcement). I, too, pay attention when I see scouting on a candidate's resume. I probably learned more from scouting than I did from all my time in school.

I was never in scouting as a youth but I really wanted to. My son started out as a Tiger and earned his Eagle rank and I was there all the way with him as the assit. scout master. Troop 1814 La Habra CA. It really is an outstanding program for young men. My son is finishing college and wants to get into law enforcement. We are very proud of him.

Eagles rise above...

Former member of Troops 130 and 56- earned my Eagle Scout Award in June of 1993.

I place my Eagle Scout Award above my Bachelors and Masters in Education, will soon place it above an Ed.D., and would place it above any other degree. It resides prominently on my resume to this day.

Anyone can earn an MBA or an M.Ed. They are a dime a dozen in today's economy- but only a few select young men obtain Eagle.
