My old Land Rovers all had aluminum bodies. If the frame was looked after, or even galvanized, they lasted forever. I always wanted to strip one down to the bare metal, but never had the time.
Aluminum makes a lot of sense. It'll be interesting to see what Ford will do with this idea.
Rover used an alloy called Birmabright. It was as much magnesium as was aluminum. Was very flammable !
Galvanizing the chassis does make them live forever!
