One of the main apps I use at work doesn't play in OS X, but that may change with VMware Fusion, fingers crossed.
Any other 3DSMax (and or AutoCAD users) have to unwillingly dual boot their MacPros?
As for in the Airstream, the MacMini and MacBookPro are a perfect match. Ever seen a Dell wearing aluminum?

We have 2 PCs and 4 Macs. I love Macs but PCs are handy too. My Mac laptop matches the AS :-)

We have always been Mac people. My wife and I each have a nice, silver, MacBook Pro. Actually our friends seem to agree with our choice, and we have had 4 of these going in the Airstream all at one time.
We did manage to kill one while traveling this summer, it seems that Mac's don't share our love of drinking red wine.

We have two laptops that we travel with. We have an ACER with 17" monitor and a DELL with a 15" monitor. Both work o.k. as long as we can get WIFI. If not we watch movies on the flatscreen tv.

As a follow up to my earlier post, the only thing I do keep one of my old windows laptops (Dell 8100 Inspiron) around for is to run Quicken. That is because
1. Although I have not tried it, Quicken for Mac is supposed to stink, at least if you are used to using Quicken for Windows. Plus I have read nightmares about trying to import Quicken Data.
2. I really, really don't want to run Parallels, VMware or Bootcamp (programs that allow you to install windows on a mac) on my mac. I'd be back to running antivirus ware again etc. Hence the separate computer. It gets fired up about twice a month to pay bills.
3. Yes there are Mac friendly alternatives to Quickent (ibank, Moneydance) but from what I have read they all have their shortcomings compared to Quicken. If they didn't, I would jump off of the intuit/quicken ship so fast it would make your head spin.
There is some hope coming in a new program to be released as a beta soon by Quicken called Quicken Financial Life for Mac. It is supposed to be a more apple like user interface albeit with some features stripped out that power users might miss. Hopefully it will work well for us "normal" bill paying, investment monitoring users. We'll see if it will import our exisiting data, some rumors think that it won't.
Sorry, didn't mean to get too far off topic.

Yup, did the same thing, after recovering and going back to Best Buy, got the
HD version of the MacBook; well worth it. We try to keep our glass away now.

My 8yr. old PC, running Millennium, died 3 days ago. I have just started My new Acer Aspire, with Vista. Hoping it lasts as long and runs as well as the old "Tank"

Hi All...thinking of getting a MacBook Pro for my wife. I use a PC for my business consulting...and have learned the basics to keep it running.
Would having to keep a Mac and a PC be more work than I may want? Ya I know it depends upon how much work I "want". Just wondering what you dual users have experienced.
Also...do I get this correct?...Micrsoft Office (PC) data files are are compatible "as is" with the Microsoft Office (Mac) system??? ie...you can move back and forth at will??
Thanks...Tom R
P.S. If I liked the Mac I would likelu change when mine is "due". Tom R

IMHO, if you can tame a PC, a Mac is really no problem at all. Yes, Office is fully compatible between Mac and PC, but I will warn you that I have seen many issues with Office overall in both Mac and PC. It's hard to believe it's the main business product used by nearly everyone. I have started to migrate to NeoOffice for Mac simply because I am just plain tired of all the problems with Microsoft stuff. Not to say Mac apps don't have their own oddities, but I've been able to get around most of them....not so with Office, but yes, Office and it's "X" files are fully transferable between platforms provided you have the Office 2008 for Mac.
