My 8yr. old PC, running Millennium, died 3 days ago. I have just started My new Acer Aspire, with Vista. Hoping it lasts as long and runs as well as the old "Tank"

Should'a had a PC!

Actually, PC's prefer white wine...rieslings to be exact.

Hi All...thinking of getting a MacBook Pro for my wife. I use a PC for my business consulting...and have learned the basics to keep it running.

Would having to keep a Mac and a PC be more work than I may want? Ya I know it depends upon how much work I "want". Just wondering what you dual users have experienced.

Also...do I get this correct?...Micrsoft Office (PC) data files are are compatible "as is" with the Microsoft Office (Mac) system??? ie...you can move back and forth at will??

Thanks...Tom R

P.S. If I liked the Mac I would likelu change when mine is "due". Tom R

IMHO, if you can tame a PC, a Mac is really no problem at all. Yes, Office is fully compatible between Mac and PC, but I will warn you that I have seen many issues with Office overall in both Mac and PC. It's hard to believe it's the main business product used by nearly everyone. I have started to migrate to NeoOffice for Mac simply because I am just plain tired of all the problems with Microsoft stuff. Not to say Mac apps don't have their own oddities, but I've been able to get around most of them....not so with Office, but yes, Office and it's "X" files are fully transferable between platforms provided you have the Office 2008 for Mac.

So can anyone translate for me what these new graphics chips/cards translate to in PC terms? I use Autocad and am seriously thinking of switching from PC to Mac. Do these Macs use a true, dedicated video card? Or are they a slower motherboard dependent unit?

I can't believe they can carve the laptop out of a single piece of aluminum, AND keep it so affordable! It beats the heck out of plastic with aluminum paint on it!

The first gen iPhones are aluminum and glass as well. I haven't upgraded to the 3G because the plastic just feels cheap... kinda like a PC!

I use a MacBook, and I connect to the 'net using the Verizon Broadband Access Handset "feature" via Bluetooth and Moto V750 when on the road. The "feature" can be turned on and off and you pay only for the days used which is about 1.98 a day

The macbookpro has dedicated ram for the video card..... This are made as graphics machines, And they run windows faster than a pc. But I would run it in windows if you are using Autocad... Don't get the mac version... I've seen it and it's kinda weird and isn't the same for some reason...
