Airstream Rentals at KOAs

You can now rent an Airstream at a KOA:

These are 25 foot units and are rugidized for rental use and come complete with linen and cooking utensils. Airstream has signed a buy back agreement with KOA to buy them back in 4 to 5 years. I do not know how Airstream will dispose of them then. Airstream is also offering a full rebate of the rent you paid to KOA for the use of the trailer, if you buy an Airstream trailer as a result of your rental. They only propose to put them in company owned campgrounds at this point but Airstream could contract with the franchisees at some time in the future. You will rent the units in place. Their article does not say it, but you can not simply rent the Airstream and pull it to some other location to enjoy your vacation. These are static use trailers.

Generous lowball price (even without any front windows) of $45,000...

$45 per night.....

ONLY 1000 nights of rental payout - less campground fees - less maid service - less insurance - less cost of capital - less....

Tough way to make a living - good deal for someone wanting to stay in an Airstream for a couple of nights.

My uncle owns a KOA and is flat-out against the idea of a stripped-down AS sitting at his park.

It's got to be a marketing ploy where Airstream is writing off all the cost of the unit, and KOA gets all the revenue. No way they could rent them out for $45/night and share the revenue with Airstream.

Could they?

I think the nights in Las Vegas are going for more like $145.00.

I think I'll rent mine out!
