Airstream Is Booming......

.........or so we were told on the tour today. Hiring right and left and can't get enough people - lots of overtime including working 5 days a week and sometimes 2 shifts - increasing the output to 45 trailers a week this month and a backlog of over 800 orders. So if anyone needs a job and you always wanted to work for Airstream here is your chance. Only other interesting thing on the tour was four trailers on the line going to China. Have a nice looking Flying Cloud badge on them with the name in Chinese and English. Wonder how long the boom will last? The area next to the factory where they used to store new trailers awaiting shipment is well over half full with new Mercedes vans waiting to be turned into Interstates. All in all good news for Airstream at the moment. Now if they'd only find a solution to the filiform corrosion problem.

Maybe. But with a bunch of new employees and extended working hours there are bound to be more QC problems - particularly when you're trying to shove them out the door as fast as Airstream is at them moment.

Sounds like with need for hiring, working overtime and a backlog that large, they have probably decided folks will buy them anyway......why waste time trying to solve filiform corrosion ?

Thumbs up

As I've noted before....the factory has no problems with filiform.

WE do.

Yes I know - but if you could see the mess my 2 year old trailer is with filiform you'd understand why I keep bringing it up.

Can't blame you at all.

Been there, done that.

Our Classic is 10 this year.

The filiform was a real PITA from the beginning. Check my posts on the corrosion thread you'll see.

I just try and stay ahead of it now.

Too bad they won't do anything to fix the problem...10 years plus is too long.

Good Luck..

Bob

Maybe with a boom going on they will reissue the 3 axle 34' trailers. Let's keep our fingers crossed.
