Get out and use your Airstream for fun and camping. I like to have my trailer clean and nice looking but the dings and scratches tell a story. I have a nice one where I reached up and tapped the clearance light to get it to come on needless to say I know have an imprint of my fist by the light. My wife says I don't know my own strength. I was going to fix the dent but left it. It starts may conversations and tells its story when we are together with other Airstreamers. Get out and have fun.

That guy who you yelled at for driving too close to it?
He was scoping it out. He'll be back at 3 am one of these nights with a truck set up with the right hitch, and hook up to it and be gone before you can get out of bed. He knows where it is. He knows its new and never been used.
Only hope for you to keep it is to hitch it up and take it someplace safe, and with you inside it, nobody can move it without you knowing.
Quick, man! Grab some toilet paper and a Woodalls and haul ass before it's too late!!

Thats a beautiful driveway ornament!! And if you don't get out there and make some great memories, that beautiful AS will be a lawn ornament!

Ok, I took your story to heart and the advice I and several other people gave and put in a new battery and washed up the Mustang. It was great driving her again and it put a big smile on my face. . She needs to run just like the AS needs to camp. I wonder if CamAm can rig her to tow?

I once bought a boat that was ten years old. It had a beautiful cabin. The PO never used the head. Talk about anal. The first thing I did was use it. My Airstream was five years old when we bought it and the PO never used the shower. You guessed it, first thing we did- use the shower. Take care of it in a sensible manner but use it and enjoy it.

Mines a 289 4 barrel carb but not as fast as a HiPro. I took my drivers test at 16 in this car. She's my baby! I'd still love to tow the Bambi with her. What a great combo that would be.... Just dreaming.

I dress it up...and so on and so forth.
When someone got a little close to it with their car (it's parked in my driveway), I went tearing out and asked the driver what the 'ell he's doing - you're too close to my NEW trailer.
"I was even close to your PRECIOUS TRAILER," said he, before roaring off.
I haven't take the trailer anywhere since buying it earlier this year. Part of the reason is work-related, but part of it has a lot to do with "over-protectiveness." I have been looking at RV parks. One sounded really neat - right on the beach. But when I discovered there was a two-mile drive over gravel roads to get there, I shuddered at the thought of dinging my trailer. I have been reading about dings, dents, and gawd forbid....corrosion. It's the kind of stuff that keeps me awake at night.
Do I need help....or is this perfectly normal behaviour? If so, how did you get over it?

Personally, I think counseling is definitely in order. You haven't named it? What is WRONG with you? Get some professional help quickly.

nilesrob, sorry, I shouldn't have been so vague.....and I hope I didn't hurt "its" feelings by being so vague. My avatar is "its" name - the Fly at Night.
I thought if I drove it in the dark, the FAN would be safer (because there would be less people on the road), plus the skin wouldn't fade as fast.
blmitch, your Mustang is a real classic. What a beaut!

Thanks! It's because of you I got her out. She's been in the garage since I got a new addiction, the Toaster! It was a blast driving her tonight, nothing Like the open air and no safety features like shoulder belts or Airbags. of course I had my iPod plugged in.
Get out and take some pictures of your adventures!

blmitch, happy to oblige.
I miss my old ragtop and that wind-in-the hair feeling. Wasn't a Mustang - a MG.

The only time I freak out some is when a weed eater is in use and getting way too close, and the other is leaving it for an extended time not fully protected against theft...(still working on the battery operated (looks like the real thing) web cam installed outside with the little red blinking light...but I am still startled by the rash of airstream thefts that happened just so long ago.An Airstream owner should not react in such a harsh manner- to the point of destroying links between people, but there ARE those times when you will have that little panic button go off. ha ha! it's weird...about this material life and all.

Hi all,
Hope I am doing this right, first time.
Since you are talking about new trailers & Mustangs maybe this will apply & I can get some advice....we looked at 22' sport & think it is perfect for us 2 old farts , plus cat! Problem is we love small cars (Honda hatchback 89 current vehicle & had old 356 Porsches....! So thought of buying expensive ugly truck or SUV is killing us, but that's what dealers automatically recommend when all they do is look for towing wt. Well yes, we pulled 22' sport with Andy's Mustang...no problem; and then you can really use the Mustang to drive for fun, not sure if we can get pkg insured in US.....any thoughts about alternative vehicles? It's only thing holding us back, but I won't take a monster.
Thanks,
Robbie
