Addition and update to 2016 thread re: rowboats

***WANT PICS OF VEHICLES WITH ALUMINUM BOATS ON TOP***

I started a thread 2+ years ago and wanted to update and ask opinions.

UPDATE: 2018- Son bought a new 26' TT and a 2018 2500HD GMC 4x4, 4:10, 6.0 engine but no boat anymore. Latest trip towing to S. Dakota averaged 7.4 mpg at 65mph and regrets buying that truck.

Me....Still have 1998 GMC 2500 but replaced the 454cu in engine last summer. We were coming home on I-75 towing my 20' boat when engine let go. TG for AAA! Got boat home with a HUGE U-Haul....what a site......LOL.
Now AS is in sight and I want to be able to haul my 14' cartop boat as mentioned before but want to see pics of others. My back can't take what it used to.

The AS I found accidentally at a garage sale. It is a 30'er and as I type the owners are moving their collector cars so we can get inside. Once I am able to get it out of his "barn, HUGE BARN" I will take pics but he is very skittish about pics of his collection. The AS was only towed from dealer to his barn and he wants to trade me for my 20' boat but any $$ difference has not been mentioned so I'm not saying where this is located but it is not in Ohio or Michigan.
OK so besides pics of rowboats atop vehicles, what equalizing hitch do you recommend BESIDES the "all in one sway and equalizers in one". Son has and I hate it. I want old style but is that practical? The kind where a small ball is on hitch and trailer with sway control in between.
The TV has only 3k on new crate motor and truck still gets comments all over as it has the 8' bed. Mileage I never worried about but I know my 454 will do better then my son's 6.0. Years ago towed a 30' Dutchman and 8 was average but I drove 70 and sometimes faster.
Anyone still have the 454?
All in all we are changing our lifestyle and want it done right so asking for help, stories, examples and of course being laughed at.....I can take it.
THANK YOU ALL!!

UPDATED 8-29-18:
Still looking for AS because the Gentleman selling the AS has never properly registered it is the story of today. I finally told him after knowing that 1 trip to DMV could fix this that I feel he still is attached to the trailer and dosen't want to sell.
I still would love any vintage pics of rowboats atop of tow vehicles. TYVM.
