I agree with you that this is a wonderful place to hang out and learn. I also share you frustrations.

One of my concerns is that too often you have someone talking about something that they know nothing about, while claiming that it is fact or experience. We've all done it at one time or another. But, OMG some forum members just don't get it. When these claims can be brushed aside by the simplest application of science, mathematics, and common sense I often find it maddening. I call it Brain Surgeon Syndrome (BS Syndrome). Some people just aren't brain surgeons. Yet they behave online as if they are. Their need to feel good mucks up the data and information that the rest of us are trying to slog through.

Some arguments are based on opinion. I feel that everyone should have a right to their own opinion. Some arguments are based on interpretation. Some arguments are based on facts. Those arguments should clear themselves up quickly, but unfortuatnely often don't. Is that a price we have to pay for diversity? At least this isn't a forum where everyone is espousing the same mantra. That thought makes me think that maybe it's pretty nice here afterall.

When I was in college (Oklahoma State, class of 1981) one of my professors said, "If you're crunching numbers to arrive at an answer, that's engineering. Everything else is just opinion." By that token, even though I'm an engineer by training and profession, virtually everything I post here is opinion, because I didn't crunch any numbers.

I tend to assume that the same is true for almost everyone else— I will believe Lewster implicitly when it comes to all things electrical, but that's one of the few exceptions.

Oh yes. I swear there are people here that are constantly scanning for things to be annoyed at. I just want to say, Wow, relax.

John how many times are you going to keep changing your user name? That's getting confusing.

Ha ha, I love this Forum but the OP's not going to get a definitive answer on anything! Well, almost nothing.

I enjoy reading everyone's experiences and their opinions, no matter how diverse. The world would surely be a poorer place if everyone agreed and did everything the same way. Perhaps we should be calling the the Forum "The Airstream Spectrum"?

Perhaps it should be called "The Art of Airstreaming".

IMHO FWIW YMMV.

But on the serious side, for me it's all a chance get some sightseeing, campfire and cooking time.

Did gas vs diesel make it to the top ten over discussed unanswerable questions? What about magnetic brakes (yuck) vs 16 piston hydraulics!

See ya round the campfire.

Diesel vs Gas might as well be like discussing football.

You've got that right! Both of these things put me to sleep during the first few minutes of the game!
