My preference would be a single key for all locks. My deadbolt at home has the same key as the knob, why is it different on the trailer? The storage compartment locks and water filler lock even have different keyways so they can't be keyed the same. I briefly looked to see if upgraded locks could be purchased anywhere that would make it possible to key everything the same, but was unsuccessful. There is also the hitch lock, the stinger lock, etc. I expect it is the same for white boxes. Seems like a business waiting to happen!

No one mentioned the lock for the spare tire or the one for the propane bottles (on a chain inside - not the lid). The lady I bought from said her sadly deceased husband had "trust issues". So I have 9 different keys!
Dead Bolt
Door
Storage lockers
Potable water
Hitch (2 one for the ball opening blocker and one for the release)
Spare tire
Propane
Battery
Oh, and also lug nuts makes 10
Plus "un-identified" keys, maybe one is a spare for his Casket

If your storage compartment is not locked you can remove the key cylinder. I removed them and took it to a locksmith store. They charged me $10. and made me keys for the cylinder. Just a suggestion.. Ginger

Try a dealer for another brand as the outside storage area locks are NOT specific to Airstream ...

I just acquired a '73 Overlander Intl. All the compartments are locked, and the lady could not find any of the keys! Is there a way to open them without calling out a locksmith? Really need to get into them! Thanks!

The compartment locks are available at Lowes, Home Depot, ect. at half the price what an RV dealer/store will charge. I replaced most of the locks on my Bambi II for less than $3 a piece. Bought a set of 5 locks with matching keys from Lowes.

Look up "how to pick locks" on the Internet. It's not particularly hard to do on cheap locks.
Or drill the cylinder out with a small drill bit if you can get away with destroying the lock.
Sent from my pocket Internet using Airstream Forums

If you have AS owner that is close that owns 70s AS see if can borrow keys or else google out of doors mart or inland rv they will probably have compartment keys,& water door it takes 3 one for door that you will have locksmith make as door replacement locks are expensive, 1 for all compartments, 1 for water door. Call me at 630 292 9409, if no answer has voice mail. I will see what you need then I will send keys to you except for door.

I recently had to "pick" the fresh water compartment lock. I had forgotten to bring the keys with me. It was very easy with a paperclip and a small screwdriver to turn it. The others maybe not so but only because of more pressure being needed. It is my understanding that the water lock is a standard used throughout the RV industry so any RV place should have keys. The storage and battery compartments would be easy to drill out to open if necessary then replace as needed. A few years ago I needed to have a complete xtra set of keys made just to be safe. I keep the xtra's in my truck. Just in case.
