Streetside water tray cleanup

Mjolnir had a leak by the water tray. I dove in.

Kinda rusty!!!! Wow. Where the was no rust the paint was stuck really well. I couldn't get even the paint stripper to pull off except on the edges where rust already penetrated.

I started to sandblast but did not have enough air pressure or flow to sustain the job. So I got it done professionally.

It seems I remember seeing them available in stainless steel, or was that another one of my "dreams"?

Thanks, guys!
I used Krylon 'rusted metal' primer... it has good 'bite'... I then sprayed it white as it was 'stock'...

Then, YIPPEE, I 'found' the 'stainless' ones!!! Great... but about $150..

This 'repaint' is going to cost $52.

I may get the 'stainless' when I am ready to replace all the stuff to 'stainless'...but, that's about $500 extra...

I did the same job maybe 3 years ago...then the came out with the stainless ones. Next time they need a re-paint, I'm replacing with stainless.

Where can I get the stainless one?

Mine is rusty also, and I have taken it out, brushed off the rust, and repainted, but I've noticed it's rusting again.

Rust can be stopped, but to do it right it must be sandblasted, then treated with "ospho" (don't really know what's in this stuff but it was used in the oil field), and then painted.

I'm not familiar with this part. Where is it located? I haven't found anything like it on my 78 Sovereign.

FRB(Frankrightbrain), howdy!

This is off of my 1999 Excella. I don't recall precisely when this "modification" was started.

Howdy back veg. I've read over a hundred threads over the last three year, since I bought my 67 International this is the first I've read about a water tray. What is its function?

There are a couple "utility trays" below the lower belt line. This one is where you route in your fresh water line to connect to "city water" which feeds your trailer. Also, this is where the connection is for the "black tank flush".. There is a curved panel on the outside which lowers after releasing two latches. You can access the connections then close it up so it has a "cleaner" look.

There is another door which is just storage, a third door covers the umbilical tray and has a slot where you can exit the cord and close the door, making it look, clean and neat.
