Storage door won't stay closed

The exterior storage door behind the driver's side of my 93 Land Yacht won't stay latched even when locked. When I hit any kind of bump, it pops open. How do I fix it so the mechanism stays in the strike plate?

Not sure if it's the same as mine but I had the same problem. I just bent the L shaped latch a bit with a pair of pliers, voila.

I bought several new latch mechanisms on eBay. Look carefully -- sa there are single latch assemblies that cost almost as much as the 6 pack I bought
