Does anyone have a pic they could post showing a custom access lid on the rear bumper.I have a 65 Ambie.I want to rebuild the lid but the fabricator is telling me the bend roll for the hinge was made on a special die and he can't do it.Could I make a piece that slides under the skin and attach the lid to this with a stainless piano hinge?

Thanks Lee,Would there be any problem going wit a thicker material(considering it needs to slide under the skin?
Sealant will take care of that problem. I not sure why you would need thicker material. Looks like you already have something there. Can you cut the existing cover back? The lid(door) is a thicker and basically supports itself. I hope we are on the same page...
Last week I added a couple of drawer locks to the lid.

Thanks Smokeless Joe .This is exactly what I had in mind.Lee it appears that this lid is more hefty than what I have currently that is all bent up.What I have now is about .020 thick. If I use something thicker it needs to fit easily under the skin. Thanks to both of you.
