Lost my sewer hose storage tube cap

It finally happened. In spite of my effort each and every time to lock the cap, I noticed after we arrived at our campsite, that the cap covering the sewer hose storage tube was gone. I was very thankful for the very first suggestion given to me at our first rally to drill a couple of holes in the tube that would allow for sliding a long nail across the sewer hose to hold it in the event of just such an event. I'm sure glad I did. I'm told that it is quite a visual to see your sewer hose snaking its way down the road.

I have been lucky so far and haven't lost one but I get a good chuckle every time I see one lying on the highway, usually mashed to smitherines by traffic. Mine stores in the lidded compartment in the bumper but s... happens!!

This made me laugh. I know it wasn't funny when it happened, but our first AS was a 1977. We had worked on it and loved it. We were coming home from a trip and all of a sudden our sewer hose and electrical connection were dragging behind the trailer. We pulled over to the side of the freeway only to discover the bumper compartment had rusted out.

Not really, men are ALWAYS easy!

It's more like Tim Allen's politically incorrect pre-Home Improvement stand-up routine about man rhings/woman things. Duct tape is a man thing; superglue is a woman thing.

Actually, considering the whole Airstream thing, I would have thought you'd use aluminum foil tape, similar to duct tape but with a metal— not cloth— backing.

Yup, happen to me.... Lost the cap and the hose ! Fortunately, it happen on the way home and not to the campsite!

Went to CG Airstream and got a cap for $5 and of course the hose from CWorld for a bit more !

Lesson learned!

now why the heck don't they put a tether on the hose container end piece like they do on the tank drain?

Paula

PS: I use a Sewer Solution and store it in the bumper. If I carried flags I'd put them in the pipe. Any other uses for it other than a slinky?

I mounted one with extra supports to store an Amerisoft water softener and a homemade PVC stand for it and a whole house filter.

EDIT, all three of mine do have tethers.
