Lost keys to 78/28' Ambassador

Owner of camper I am looking at has lost the keys to the compartments. One compartment is unlocked. Can I remove that lock and take it to a locksmith to have keys made? Will that key work for all compartments? The front door is unlocked also. Same question. 1978/28' Ambassador. Thanks. Jack

Its just a lock. Take it, or have them come to you.

Several times when someone has needed a key, I have posted this list. I have never received any feedback if it was useful or not. But, anyway here its again.

Thanks for the chart. It looks like there are four different keys. Was hoping access, trunk, battery and water fill doors all used same key. Think he will have to have a locksmith come out to the middle of nowhere. Jack

It's a trailer, why not tow it to the locksmith? It would probably cost less than a service call tot he middle of nowhere.

Sounds like a great idea, but there is just one little problem. Trailer has been sitting for eight years. Tires need replacing.

We had that problem when we bought our 65. We live near Out of Door Mart and just went and got a key that works on all the compartments. I bet you could give them a call and they could mail you a key. It was less than $3.00
336-668-2784 Google their website and they probably have an 800 #

Website: Out-of-Doors Mart

Good people to deal with and very vintage friendly.

Contacted ODM and Ben was very helpful. Heading out to take a picture to make sure I have the correct locks. Best news is that entry door may not be broken! Supposed to meet with seller again this week. Thanks again.

Know I hate to read these forums and never hear what finally happened. Update: ODM/Ben sent me the keys and they worked. Went to local locksmith and had four sets made. Entry door had to be rekeyed, but cylinder works. This vs. new cylinder ($30). Keeler lock appears to be working, but have not reinstalled. Thanks for all the advice. Can now get into trailer I bought. Jack
