HELP! Bumper trunk picture needed asap, please

Hi,

We are installing our bumper trunk on our '76 Tradewind and have a spring for it, but can't figure out how to install the spring. There are no pictures online. The spring looks like this and was purchased from them. If anyone has an airstream with a bumper trunk that can take a picture of their spring and post it, it would be GREATLY appreciated. We're leaving in two weeks.

I don't know what the bumper compartment door looks like on a 76. The 66 has a rear opening door with the hinge on the bumper. It opens 180 degrees so no stay open spring is needed.

The 86 has the hinge next to the body. The door opens toward the body and it has a stay open torsion spring. I went all the way down to the storage garage to take this picture, so say "thank you David."

Me, I'd find a stick in the campsite to hold the door open. The spring gets in the way of my sewer hose.

Thanks David, we installed it like in your picture and it works great. It stays open when open and holds the lid down tight when shut. Thanks again for the help. Me and my wife saying is "we do it right because we do it twice". It's nice when it works the first time!
