Exterior storage

In going to be building a dinette that converts to a sleeping area and I was wondering if anybody has installed access doors to access under the benches from the outside. I Intend on making the seats hinge open but I'd like a way to access the space from outside as well. Any suggestions?

Flo is getting a make-over!

I think that what you are going to do makes a lot of sense and would be a nice and useful modification to your trailer.
I have no tips on doing it and would like to hear how your mod turns out for you.

Part of what will make this tough is that all of those segments that make up the end of a 70's era trailer are formed in three dimensions. So if you tried to make a hatch on the side of the trailer, you are going to have a real challenge coming up with a door and door frame that match the compound curvature of the segment.

There are some trailers that have hatches in the front, where there isn't much curve, to store batteries, but I have seen a lot of complaints by the owners that these hatches leak, to the point that they end up patching up the hole permanently.

good luck!
