I am not familiar with 1999 doors, but if the screw threads are good, Locktite will keep the screws tight.

I like the idea of adding some shims to the hinge. What material did you use. I was thinking of looking for some small brass washers to try.

I used 1/4" E-clips available at any decent hardware store. Found mine at Ace.

Uh-oh

I removed one of the Phillips head screws to replace it with an hex head thinking I could get it tighter, and add locktite. When I tried to put the screw back in, nothing to screw it into. I'm guessing there was a nut behind the door frame that dropped. Has anyone used a rivet nut to repair this situation. Any other ideas are welcome.

Could you maybe carefully carefully cut a hole in the inner skin with a hole saw at the right location in order to install a new nut and then plug teh hole with a plastic plug - I think they are available in many sizes. (or cover the hole by some other decorative means.

If so, you could the easily access the nut again if you ever had to do so.

I found an older post and that was the solution they came up with. I think I'll try that. These hinges have been a source of frustration for some time.
