Exterior Door Drip Trim

Looking at an existing exterior door there is a piece of aluminum trim that does a good job of "shielding" the top edge of the door from rain. Why is this same piece missing from the rear door where it would do the most good? Is there a source for this trim so I can add it to the door?

Door Locks

Oh, and does anyone have a source for the door locks like these with a key?

Ebay is a good place to look for keys. Airstream used standard keys so you may be able to just buy a key instead of a complete lock. You could also try Inland RV, VTS, Outdoors Mart etc.

Vintage sells the entire lock assembly: Baggage Door Pop Lock

We bought keys from Out of Doors mart, and they work great.

Our '72 does not have that rain gutter over the rear hatch either. I did get it to seal really well with new weather-stripping and some adjusting of the latch.

Thank you.

As thus far, very helpful information from this forum from other members. I guess that is what it is all about. Hopefully I can pass my knowledge onto others as I become more experience. Returning what I have been so graciously given.

I've noticed the drip rail on some airstreams and not on others. My trailer has no such drip rail on any compartment doors. My guess is that the factory at some point omitted the drip rail? They seem to be more common on early 70's models.

If you are looking just for a key for an existing lock, trailers of the same year and model often use identical keys, so find a member with your year and model and request a copy of their key. Of course it helps if you know that person, even a little, or are clear across the country and unlikely ever to have access to their trailer!
